Blood Cleanup
Exposure to blood is among the most common biohazards. Virus pathogens like Hepatitis B and C, Ebola, and HIV live outside and can survive in dried and liquid blood outside the body for hours, days, or even weeks. Improper and incomplete techniques for blood cleanup can potentially permit direct contact and inhalation of dangerous pathogens to create Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health environments (IDLH).
Professional ABS technicians utilize personal safety equipment, zoning, containment, biohazard recovery, decontamination, and disposal protocols, as standards established by OSHA, EPA, ABRA, IICRC, NIDS, FL DOH, US DOT, and HAZWOPER to ensure safe and successful blood cleanup.
Dead Body Cleanup
When a family member, friend, coworker, or employee dies, those left behind can experience shock and pain. Certified ABS biohazard technicians use awareness, skill and compassion to clean and restore affected areas after death with respect and care. The cleanup of a dead body creates several hazards within the immediate vicinity. ABS is dedicated to remediating the environment where death occurred with proper dignity, respect, and professionalism whether for dead body odor removal or death odor removal.
Suicide Cleanup
Loss survivors of suicide are left to deal with sudden, devastating shock and grief. The professional technicians at ABC recognize the complex swirling of emotions survivors struggle with after someone loses their struggle with suicide. The physical aspects of suicide compound sadness and stress and we understand that distress.
ABS performs remediation and cleanup of suicides safely, quickly, and efficiently with a discreet, professional, and dignified manner. Skilled technicians work quickly to safely eliminate biohazards and remove all traces at the scene to ease the burden for survivors recovering from the trauma of a tragic suicide.
Homicide Cleanup
The loss of a family member, friend, coworker, or employee through homicide is among the most traumatic experiences an individual can go through. Rapid response to homicide cleanup and remediation is crucial to reduce the risk of exposure to dangerous pathogens that increase the complexity of the homicide cleanup that can result in increased costs. Certified Biorecovery and Decontamination tech teams at ABS respond promptly to homicide cleanup requests and discreetly perform professional services with respect to all involved parties.
Meth Cleanup
The use of destructive methamphetamine is prevalent—37% addiction rate—across the United States, with easier access and lower costs for production and purchase of the drugs. Meth labs used to “cook” the compound typically produce about six pounds of hazardous toxic waste per pound of methamphetamine made.
Meth manufacturing also produces hazardous residue, known as volatile organic compounds (VOC), which bind to surfaces, and cause harmful secondary exposures. VOCs can render homes, businesses, and vehicles uninhabitable, as VOCs may cause headaches, nose and throat irritation, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, confusion, and respiratory difficulties. Benzene—a known carcinogen—is a common compound used in meth manufacturing.
Children are especially vulnerable to the effects of toxic meth residue. According to the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment Report, children living in meth-contaminated spaces are susceptible to chronic health problems. ABS technicians offer a comprehensive spectrum of methamphetamine consulting and testing services. Decontamination teams are specifically trained and certified in meth-level analysis, meth-residue testing, and meth-deamination services.
Tear Gas Cleanup
Law enforcement officers in Fort Lauderdale may use tear gas in escalating situations while apprehending a crime suspect. Exposure to tear gas causes pulmonary, ocular, and skin irritations with the potential to cause serious health hazards, including death in extreme, rare circumstances.
Tear gas is one of the most challenging substances to clean and remediate. Certified ABS technicians use advanced tear gas residue recovery and decontamination technologies and processes to remediate tear gas residue exposures in efficient and effective manners.
Unattended Death Cleanup
A dead body left unattended presents wide-ranging hazards to those in the affected area. Decomposition begins immediately after death: potentially harmful microbial organisms, and spores are released into the affected and surrounding areas of the home or business where the body was left. Insect activity also begins shortly after death and, with the metamorphosis processes, can cross-contaminate the area exponentially.
ABS is certified, insured, bonded, and licensed to conduct biohazard and HAZMAT operations in the Fort Lauderdale community and throughout the state of Florida. Trained and Certified Biohazard Technicians effectively and efficiently remediate affected environments with dignity, respect, and professionalism.
