Am I suited for biohazard and HAZMAT work?

We have found that those working in the medical and emergency services fields possess the mental and emotional stamina and aptitude to transition seamlessly into a bio recovery career.

ABS is always actively recruiting Law Enforcement Officers, Paramedics, EMTs, Firefighters, and Nurses. However, we will consider any applicant who meets the general requirements, demonstrates a willingness to learn and achieve, internalizes a strong work ethic, maintains a professional demeanor and most importantly, is compassionate toward others in need and wishes to make a difference.

Minimum Requirements

  • Fluent in English. Multi-lingual is a plus.
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Wear a biohazard suit and full-face respirator for extended periods of time.
  • Pass a respiratory medical exam.
  • Pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Facial hair and hair styles maintained in a manner that will not cause respirator seal failure.
  • Pass a drug test.
  • No felony convictions.
  • No visible tattoos. Tattoos must be coverable with clothing.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Sign a 24 month non-compete agreement.
  • Have obtained or will obtain HEP A, B and Tetanus vaccinations. Willing to obtain a COVID-19 vaccination and HIV vaccination when they become available.
  • Clean driving record, driver’s license and dependable transportation.
  • Excellent professional references.
  • Compassionate toward those experiencing hardship and personal loss
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Work in a Team environment, supporting and nurturing collaboration, strategy, productivity and safety.
  • Strong work ethic. Professional and meticulous, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to retain technical and safety information / instruction in formal classroom settings and in the field. Follow Site Manger direction and biorecovery and decontamination operational plans with precision.

While ABS employs vanguard technologies and training to protect its employees from harm, biohazard and HAZMAT decontamination work is an intrinsically dangerous occupation with known and unknown associated hazards. Exposure to HIV, EVD, HEP A, HEP B, HEP C, Tetanus, C. Diff, MRSA, COVID, TB and other dangerous or lethal pathogens could occur. Restrictive PPE, powered and non-powered tools, Sharps, knives, razors, chemicals (used to clean, disinfectant and decontaminate) and ladders are employed.
